Advocacy

Campaign(s)

In the Muster app, campaigns can be thought of as folders or collections of multiple action centers. Each campaign contains aggregated analytics for all the action centers within it.

Action Center(s)

An action center is the page you create for people to contact their elected officials.

Action Alert

If you're subscribed to Muster's email or text messaging tool, you can send out Action Alerts. Action Alerts are communications to your contacts tied to a specific action center. When sending an action alert, Muster will automatically filter out contacts who can't take action on your action center.

Target(s)

Targets are the elected officials you want to direct advocates to send messages to.

Target Groups

Target groups are custom-created groups of elected officials from Muster's database you'd like to target. (Think state-level committees)

Widgets

The "Widgets" tab in your Action Center dashboard is where you'll find the embeddable form for that particular action center.

Comprehensive Excel Report

This is a multi-tab .xslx file that contains the analytics for either the campaign or action center. You can download analytics for both the campaign and the individual action center.

Lists

You will commonly hear our team refer to this as the "Advocacy CRM" or "Muster CRM." In the Muster app, "Lists" is where we store your contacts if you subscribe to the "Lists" module. It's also where you can create sign-up forms, create filtered lists based on legislative districts, and manage custom fields.

Contacts

The "Contacts" portion of the Lists module contains all of your contacts. Shocker, I know. It's also where you can upload contacts, create lists

Non-Geocoded Contacts

These are all of the contacts in your account without address information. To ensure advocates are matched to the correct districts, we require Street, City, and Zip.

Filtered List(s)

Filtered lists are lists you can build in Muster with the contacts stored in your account. A filtered list can contain multiple "filters" including:

  • Legislative boundaries

  • Custom fields

  • Has taken action

They can generally be as simple or as complex as you want them to be.

Forms

This is where you can create customized forms for advocates to sign up and opt-in to hear from you.

Custom Fields

Custom fields are identifiers that you think are important to capture and store. There are three types of custom fields in Muster:

  1. Text Field

    1. An advocate can fill in a response.

  2. Choice

    1. An advocate can choose one option from a drop-down.

  3. Multiple Choice

    1. An advocate can choose multiple options from a drop-down.

Group(s)

Groups are how you can organize lists within your account. Groups are folders for your lists.

Export

Any list can be exported; in this export, we will include legislative districts for these contacts.
