Especially when you're starting up with Muster, you'll likely want to bring customers from one system or another and consolidate into your Muster CRM.

There are a number of ways to do this, and a common method entails using exported lists or existing Excel databases. Luckily Muster has a robust and easy to use import tool which will let you match your existing headers to Muster fields, add multiple emails per contact, and even add custom fields on the fly.

Excel or CSV

Start with an Excel file or CSV (comma-separated values) file of your contact list ready to go for upload.

Custom Fields

Optional: have custom fields, such as Company or Job Title? Great! Make sure they're in your list and you can add custom fields into your account during the upload process (see step 5 for more information).

Import into a New List

To import a new contact list, click "Add List" which is located in the box on the top left side of your screen in the “Lists” section. From there select “List” not “Filtered List.”

Once you title your list, you can then upload your contacts into this list you just created. To do this, click one the link on the screen that says "Import".

From there, follow the import directions that appear on your screen. Muster will automatically try to recognize and map some of your fields such as “First name, Last Name, Address, etc. However, if one of your fields is not being recognized and you’d like to include it in your import as a custom field, simply select the “Include as custom field” option on the right hand side (see image below).

Et voilà!

Once you complete all of the steps in the upload wizard and submit your list, your contacts will begin to populate your list!
